Scanning the Registry with Registry Booster

Use the following steps to scan the registry and Windows files:

1. Click Start Scan from the Overview tab (see Figure 1). The Registry Scan window displays (see Figure 2) and the scan starts immediately.

OR

Click the Registry Scan tab. The Registry Scan window displays (see Figure 5) and allows configuration of the scan before continuing.

2. Select the scan options:

  • System related errors
  • User related errors
  • Third party related errors

3. Click Start scan. The progress of the scan displays as the scan proceeds (see Figure 6). When the scan is complete, a summary of the errors displays (see Figure 7).

4. Click Detailed view to get specific information about the errors (see Figure 8).

5. Click View results log to view the scan log file in your default web browser (see

Figure 9).

6. Exit the browser window at any time.

7. From the detail view (see Figure 8), click Back to summary to return to the summary window (see Figure 7).

8. To fix the errors, click Fix errors from the summary window. Click Stop fixing at any time to stop the process.

Viewing the Latest Scan Results

To view the results of the most recent scan:

1. Click the Registry Scan tab (see Figure 2).

2. Click Latest scan results. A summary of the most recent scan displays (see

Figure 10).

3. Click Detailed view to get specific information about the errors.

4. Click Fix errors to fix the errors. Click Stop fixing at any time to stop the process.

Managing the Ignore List

Use this function to add or remove registry items that should be ignored while scanning the registry.

Adding to the Ignore List

To add a registry item to the ignore list:

1. Click the Registry Scan tab (see Figure 2).

2. Click Ignore list. The current Ignore list displays (see Figure 11).

3. Click Add new entry. A dialog box prompts for information about the registry item (see Figure 12).

4. To ignore a specific registry item, enter the specific registry item in the Enter registry path field and select the registry location from the Select registry location drop-down list

OR

To ignore an entire group of registry items, leave the Enter registry path field blank and select the registry location from the Select registry location drop-down list.

5. Click Add entry.

Removing an Ignore List Item

To remove an item from the ignore list:

1. Click the Registry Scan tab (see Figure 12).

2. Click Ignore list. The current Ignore list displays (see Figure 11).

3. Click the item on the list

OR

Click Select all.

4. Click Remove selected. The item is removed from the list.

Using Registry Repair Logs

To view a registry repair log:

1. Click the Registry Scan tab (see Figure 2).

2. Click Registry repair logs. The list of repair logs displays (see Figure 13).

3. Select a log entry and click View. A log of the items that were fixed displays (see

Figure 14).

4. Click View in browser to view the information in your default browser (see Figure 15).

5. Exit the browser window at any time.

6. From the repair log view (see Figure 14), click Back to logs to return to the registry repair logs list.

Deleting a Repair Log

To delete a repair log from the list:

1. Click the Registry Scan tab (see Figure 2).

2. Click Registry repair logs. The list of repair logs displays (see Figure 13).

3. Select the log to delete and click Delete selected. A confirmation dialog box displays.

4. Click Delete to remove the item from the list.
