Using IE Tools in Registry Easy

Managing BHO (Removing Plug-ins)

To remove plug-ins:

1. From the main window, click IE Tools and click BHO Manager. The list of installed plug-ins displays (see Figure 38).

2. Click Menu Extensions, Toolbar or Explorer Bars to toggle the display of the items on the list.

3. To remove an item, click the associated checkbox and click Remove Checked. The plug-in is removed.

Note: Registry Easy makes a backup of the registry settings before deleting the plug-in, so the settings can be restored later.

To restore plug-ins:

1. From the main window, click IE Tools and click BHO Manager. The list of installed plug-ins displays (see Figure 38).

2. Click Restore to display a list of backups (see Figure 39).

3. Select the backup and click Restore.

4. To remove a backup from the list, select it and click Remove.

Restoring IE Default Settings

Restores default IE settings.

1. From the main window, click IE Tools and click IE Restore. The list of IE default settings displays (see Figure 40).

2. Click the checkboxes to select the features to restore

OR

Click Select All.

3. Click Restore. The settings are restored and a completion status displays for each item.

Managing IE Settings

Managing General Settings

To manage general IE settings:

1. From the main window, click IE Tools and click IE Management. The IE General Settings window displays (see Figure 41).

2. To configure the home page, enter the URL for a home page into the Home Page Address field and click Apply to apply the change

OR

Click Use Blank to use the about:blank (default) page.

3. To change the default directory for downloading files, enter a full folder path into the Download directory field

OR

Click Browse. Navigate to the folder and click OK.

4. Click Apply to apply the change.

5. To change the default “save as” folder, enter a folder in the Save directory field

OR

Click Browse. Navigate to the folder and click OK.

6. Click Apply to apply the change.

7. To change the default “save picture as” folder, enter a folder in the Save directory field

OR

Click Browse. Navigate to the folder and click OK.

8. Click Apply to apply the change.

Managing IE Plug-ins

To remove unnecessary plug-ins installed by websites:

1. From the main window, click IE Tools and click IE Management. Click the IE Plug-ins tab. The IE Plug-ins window displays (see Figure 42).

2. To remove a plug-in select it and click Delete. A dialog box confirms the deletion.

3. Click Yes to continue. The plug-in is deleted.

Managing ActiveX Programs

To manage ActiveX programs:

1. From the main window, click IE Tools and click IE Management. Click the IE Downloaded ActiveX tab. The IE Downloaded ActiveX window displays (see

Figure 43).

2. To block an ActiveX control, select it and click Block this item. The text color for the control changes to red and the control is blocked.

3. To block an ActiveX control, select it and click Un-Block this item. Text color for the control changes to black and the control is unblocked.

4. To remove an ActiveX control, select it and click Permanently remove this item. A dialog box confirms deletion.

5. Click Yes to continue. The ActiveX item is deleted.

Managing Security

To manage IE security features:

1. From the main window, click IE Tools and click IE Management. Click the Security tab. The Security window displays (see Figure 44).

2. To clear the IE cache, click Clear in the IE Cache area. The internet browsing history stored on the computer is deleted.

3. To lock Internet Explorer’s source code, so it cannot be modified, click Disable in the Source Editor area.

4. To unlock Internet Explorer’s source code, click Enable in the Source Editor area.

5. To reset Internet Explorer’s Supervisor password, click Clear in the IE Content Password area.

6. To clear Internet Explorer’s address history, click Clear in the Address List area.
