Using Registry Mechanic

Registry Mechanic scans the Windows registry for errors, enables the selection of the errors to fix and fixes errors. The registry is automatically backed up when each scan is performed, so you can restore your computer to that working state in case of a computer crash.

In addition, you can manage your computer’s performance, fine-tune system parameters and restore the registry to a previous working state.

The main window (see Figure 1) provides access to program features using the arrows at upper left corner to navigate through major areas or the menu items on the left.

Click the arrows or the menu items to access a list of program features. Use the links on the right side of the screen to access the functions.

Optimize

Use the Optimize menu (see Figure 1) to scan and clean your registry, tuneup Windows services, monitor your registry for changes, defragment the registry, optimize your system and restore the system to a previously working state.

Clean Your Registry

Use this function to scan the registry and fix errors.

1. Click Optimize or use the arrows to access the Optimize options.

2. Click Clean Your Registry to start the scan (see Figure 2).

3. Click Stop at any time to stop the scan. When the scan is complete, a results screen displays (see Figure 3).

4. To prevent an issue from being fixed, click it to deselect the checkbox. This places the problem on the Ignore List.

5. Click Repair to fix the issues. As the fixes are made, the window displays the progress of the repairs.

6. Click Continue to return to the Optimize menu.
