Defragment Your Registry with Registry Mechanic
The Defragment Your Registry function compacts the registry file for optimum performance.
Note: You must reboot your computer during this process.
1. Click Optimize or use the arrows to access the Optimize options.
2. Click Defragment Your Registry. The Registry Compacting window displays (see Figure 9).

3. Click Create System Restore Point to save the current settings for use in a restore later, if needed.
4. Click Yes to start the compaction process.
If Create System Restore Point is checked, a dialog box indicates the status of the creation of the restore point.
A dialog box also displays the status of the analysis of the registry’s space usage.
Registry Mechanic displays a preview of the expected results (see Figure 10).

5. Click More info to display details of the items that will be compacted (see Figure 11).

6. Click Compact Now to start the process.
7. A dialog box confirms completion. Click Restart to reboot your computer and finalize the changes.
